My Spirit Free

Following is a poem of my daughter's. She wrote it sometime in the very early 2000s.

I'm inside the school doors,
Listening to the teacher's bores,
I turn toward the window,
I hear nature calling me,
How I'd love to be outdoors,
Wild with glee, my spirit free.

I'm inside doing a test,
Making sure to do my best,
I turn towards the window,
With my ears I hear the birds twitter,
It is the call of the wild,
How I'd love to play the games of a child,
Wild with glee my spirit free.

I hear the bells,
And what it tells,
Could it be,
That I am free?
The doors are open wide,
I'm free to step outside,
I run fast to the mountains,
Wild with glee, my spirit is free!
